Edgar Bruno da Silva, popularly known as ‘Edgar’ has officially signed on as catcher for Daegu FC. The newly added forward is another stroke of hope for the team to finally get out of the relegation zone. D6aegu FC is currently in the bottom ranks in the league.
Daegu’s made the announcement on Tuesday, Edgar is 191 centimeters tall and weighs 87-kilograms. He is notable as an aggressor with both strength and skill. His strong points include heading, fighting, breaking dribbles, and goal determination.
Edgar was an active professional football player in Europe and Asia. He scored more than 90 goals in Portugal, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and the Thai league. The catcher also played for the Brazil U-20 national team in 2007.He played with William Patu, who also helped to win the 2007 CONMEBOL U-20 championship.
He has been a key attacker for Buriram, who is at the forefront of the Thai league this season. Edgar scored eight goals in 15 league games and eight games in Asian Champions League. On May 20th, he made a hat-trick in the last game with Buriram.
Daegu went on an active search for a new player. The team needs competitive members especially after Kaion and Jian suffered injuries. Daegu;’s recruitment process was extensive and yielded Edgar and Jose as most fitting to join the team. They will soon train with the team.
Edgar said he wants to provide useful contributions to the team “I want to be a very helpful player for the team,” he said. He also added that his team mates from all over the world have sent him messages, wishing him well in the new team.
Edgar is expected to boost Daegu’s performance in the upcoming matches. Daegu will play the South Sea battle until the 16th. For their first game of the second half of the league, they will go toe to toe with FC Seoul. The game will be held at Daegu Stadium on the 8th of next month.
