Kim Meen-whee, known as Whee Kim, defeated Hyun Jeong-hyeob. He won the Descente Korea Munsingwear Match at South Cape Owners Club. This was in Namhae County, South Gyeonggi, on Sunday.

“Hyun was playing really well,” Kim said after the win. “I feel like I was rather lucky, since I was able to win because Hyun made mistakes toward the end of the round.”

With the win, Kim took home the total prize money of 200 million won ($186,240).

“I was making my game so difficult so I doubted myself at one point, whether I could win or not,” Kim said after the win. “It feels good to win.”

Kim won a gold medal at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou as an amateur. Then he turned professional in 2010. Eversince then he has had one KPGA tour victory at the 2012 Shinhan Donghae Open.

Kim Meen-Whee and pro golfing

For such a young golfer, he has a lot of potential in the pros. Kim was born in 1992. His gold medal in golf exempts him from military service. This means Kim has more time to hone his golf skills. It also means he has more tournaments to join in the years he gets instead of serving the military.

Last season, Kim started to make an impression on the PGA Tour. He won two top-10 finishes and five top-25 finishes. This season, Kim’s best finish was last weekend, tied for 29th at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide.

After a week off, Kim will be heading back to the United States to continue his season on the PGA Tour. Kim is most definitely on a roll. And the odds on Kim have been earning sports bettors a lot of money, too. And a few tournaments more, he will probably be getting more wins and trophies.
